He got game (2003)
The work consists of a sculpture with four separate video sequences installed inside. The cylinder-like sculpture acts as a sporting arena where men’s physique and body relationships are explored. The video scenes deal with some parts of the physical practices that a body and its owners are confronted with, some of which, through a “complete” physical experience, produce a sense of belonging. The starting point is an interest in bodily practices and its role in identity creation, in particular gender identity. The work revolves around the concepts of masculinity, sport, sexual identity and partcularly how these interact in both visible and invisible constructions.
